Actaea racemosa is an underused woodland perennial that works well in the mixed border. Tolerant of sun or shade this herbaceous bugbane forms a nice clump of upright stems that rise to 4 to 6 feet with a skirt of lacey mid-green foliage at the base with tall flower spikes of fragrant white flowers on a spike. These flower spikes can be more than 12 inches long.
